TEXT: JOHN 5:1-10

KEY VERSE: The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. (VERSE 7).

Today, we shall continue from where we stopped regarding the help of man overriding the help of God. There are some reasons why the help of man may not be able to meet up with God’s actual help at times. Some of these are:

  1. Limitations: The psalmist encouraged us to trust in the help of God, alluding to the fact that the help of man is often vain if God is not involved. (Psalm 60:11, 108:12)
  2. Depending on man instead of God may cost you so many of your resources before reality dawns on you. The woman with the issue of blood had already spent her entirety before she sought the help of God and she instantly got her healing. (Mark 5:25-26)
  3. Omnipresence: God is ever-present in our lives and situations. Even when family and friends forsake us, God does not forsake us. (Psalm 27:10)
  4. It is not every form of help that is within the capacity of man. Man can only do what he is capable of doing, and that’s if he even desires to do so.

SEARCHLIGHT:
The more we lean on humans to help us, the more we may likely encounter disappointment. This is not to say that man is not supportive. However, never count it as an offence against anyone that fails to help you, as only God can lay it in the heart of a man to help you.

BIBLE READING:
Isaiah 49-51, Matthew 20.

PRAYER:
My Father, direct divine help towards me today, in Jesus’ mighty name.
