WHERE IS THE FIRE ?

TEXT: Leviticus 9:17-24

KEY VERSE: “And there came a fire out from before the Lord, and consumed upon the altar the burnt offering and the fat: which when all the people saw, they shouted, and fell on their faces” ( Leviticus 9:24 KJV ).

Leonard Ravenhill, a mighty man of God who wanted to know God’s will above everything else, wrote a book called “Where Is the Fire?” to talk about the lack of passion and spirituality in churches today. As a man of deep prayer, he practiced what he preached. He also wrote “Why Revival Tarries,” a classic book that many people still read today. His prophetic voice and passionate concerns earned him both respect and criticism. However, he stayed true to God’s calling, praying earnestly for a real, heaven-sent revival.

In Leviticus 9, we read how Moses and Aaron did everything just as God commanded. After the sacrifices were made, they came out to bless the people. Then God showed up in a powerful way—fire came down from heaven and burned up the offering. Everyone saw it and fell down in worship. God’s glory was real and visible.

That fire wasn’t just a show; it was proof that God accepted their worship and was present with them. It gave the people confidence and reminded them that God was near.

But today, something is missing. The passion we once had in our churches is fading. Many believers have become relaxed and spiritually dull. Churches that should be full of life feel dry and cold. Instead of stirring hearts, many services feel routine.

People no longer cry over sin or hunger for God’s presence. Sermons are often shared without passion, and listeners leave unchanged. The fire that once burned in hearts has grown weak or gone out completely.

This is not how God designed the church to be. In the Bible, His people were full of power, purpose, and the presence of the Holy Spirit. We need that fire again. We need revival—a fresh move of God that brings conviction, passion, and real change.

Let’s humble ourselves before God. Let’s clean the altar of our hearts and ask Him to send the fire again—to wake us up, revive us, and fill us with His glory.

SEARCH LIGHT: In times of spiritual lukewarmness and apathy, when we are lacking genuine spiritual revival, we must return to God with humility and hunger for revival.

PRAYER: Lord, reignite my soul with Your fire. Bring revival to my heart and life, that others might witness Your glory and power.

BIBLE READING: Psalms 106-108, 1 John 3
