GO YE AND REACH YOUR OWN SAMARITANS
JUNE 27, 2025
TEXT: Acts 8:5-6
KEY VERSE: Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. Acts 8:5
In our Scripture passage today, we see how God used Philip the Evangelist to take the Gospel to the people of Samaria. Through Philip’s preaching, many came to Christ, experiencing deliverance from the darkness of sin and embracing the true light of God’s grace. If God could use Philip, an ordinary man, to achieve such extraordinary results, imagine what He can accomplish through us when we take steps of faith!
Sadly, in today’s world, many believers are distracted by the lure of darkness. From social media to worldly pleasures, these distractions keep us from focusing on our divine assignment of sharing the Gospel. This distraction has led many believers to forget their spiritual responsibilities and miss opportunities to reach out and impact the lives of those around them.
The story of Philip is a powerful reminder that action leads to exploits for God’s glory. When we step out in faith, God works through us to reach those who are lost and in need of His love and grace. However, to achieve this, we need to take bold steps and be intentional in reaching out to our ‘Samaritans’—those around us who have yet to hear the good news of Jesus Christ.
Today, we are blessed with countless opportunities to share the Gospel—through the internet, telephone, and other technological advancements. These tools, which were unavailable in Philip’s time, provide us with even greater potential for spreading God’s Word and leading others to Christ. Despite these blessings, many of us fail to use these opportunities to their fullest. Like Philip, we need to maximize every opportunity around us to bring people to God’s light and truth.
In conclusion, my brothers and sisters, let us be encouraged to “Go and Reach Your Own Samaria!” Like Philip, let us take hold of our divine assignment, share the Gospel with those around us, and lead them out of the darkness into the light of Jesus Christ. Remember, if we fail to use the opportunities God has given us, many may perish in the darkness of their sin. Let’s make it our mission to bring as many souls as possible to the Kingdom of God.
SEARCH LIGHT:
Believers must seize every opportunity available, including the use of modern technology, to share the Gospel with those around them, lest people continue to perish in their sins.
PRAYER: Lord, give me a heart of compassion for those who are lost and in darkness, and fill me with the courage and boldness to reach out to my own Samaritans.
