WAITING BEFORE MANIFESTING 1
MAY 21, 2026
TEXT: “And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father…” (Acts 1:4)
Today’s sermon enlightens us on the importance of spiritual preparation and fortification before venturing into any kingdom assignment.
Many believers today are in a hurry to manifest and showcase what they supposedly have. However, it is necessary for every believer to tarry in the room of preparation. When Jesus told His disciples to wait after His ascension, it did not mean they should be inactive or idle. Rather, it meant they should equip themselves powerfully. They were to wait for the infilling of the Spirit of God to usher them into supernatural manifestation.
At that point, Jesus knew that the knowledge they had acquired over the years, though superb, was still not enough. He knew that the experience they had garnered while walking with Him during His earthly ministry was still not enough. He knew that they needed the “Comforter” to instruct and guide them in all things (Luke 24:49).
The disciples needed to learn not to trust in their carnal power and ability. They needed to understand that spiritual effectiveness is not by power nor by might, but by God’s Spirit. Without the Spirit of God in you, ministry becomes a mere earthly and unrewarding venture. It becomes wasted human effort. Waiting teaches patience, meekness, and trust.
God wants to bring us to a stage where our walk with Him supersedes our work for Him. It is good to exert physical energy in working for God, but while our work for God can bring us blessings and breakthroughs, our walk with Him is the ultimate key that can guarantee our continual flourishing in the things of the Spirit and even the hope of eternal glory in Christ Jesus. A worker who is not a walker is a time-waster.
Unfortunately, some practitioners of so-called modern Christianity seem to celebrate physical activity while their walk with God continues to stall. Busy ministry without divine empowerment can only lead to exhaustion without transformation, which will ultimately lead to frustration and operation under the devil.
SEARCHLIGHT: Forced manifestation without prior preparation will lead to ultimate frustration.
PRAYER: O God, help me not to be under-equipped for Your work, in Jesus’ mighty name.
