O LORD, DEFEND ME TIMEOUSLY 2

O LORD, DEFEND ME TIMEOUSLY 2

TEXT: “And there came in two men, children of Belial, and sat before him: and the men of Belial witnessed against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth did blaspheme God and the king. Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, that he died.” (1 Kings 21:13)

Today, we shall conclude our discussion on God fighting for His children timeously by examining the lives of diverse people for whom God fought, but only after they had died.

  1. Naboth: This man lost his life due to the greed and avariciousness of King Ahab, coupled with the satanically indulgent support of Queen Jezebel. God brought diverse curses upon Ahab and his household. To make matters worse, Ahab repented temporarily, and God was forced to change the larger bulk of the punishment and postpone it until the days of his son. (1 Kings 21:19-29)
  2. Uriah: This was one of the principal soldiers of King David. He was such a valiant man that he fought diligently and always demonstrated patriotic dispositions towards the kingdom. Unfortunately, King David’s greed led him to murder this innocent soldier in a bid to cover up his sin of adultery. Indeed, God fought for him by placing a curse on David, to the effect that the sword would never depart from his household. However, David later went on to repair his damaged relationship with God and continued to hold a dear place in God’s agenda. By then, however, Uriah had already been wasted! (2 Samuel 11:24)
  3. Abel: Abel was the second son of Adam and Eve. The Bible records that he brought the firstlings of his flock as a special gift unto God, while his brother Cain brought an offering that was rejected by God. Upon discovering this rejection, Cain proceeded to kill his brother out of fury, bitterness, and envy. Truly, God fought for him by telling Cain that he would be a fugitive and a vagabond in the land. Unfortunately, Abel was no longer alive. (Genesis 4:8-10)
  4. John the Baptist: John came as a forerunner of Christ. He was sent to make the Lord’s path straight. Unfortunately, he found himself in a disagreement with Herod Antipas, who proceeded to imprison him and subsequently had him beheaded at the behest of his stepdaughter, the daughter of Herodias. John’s only offence was telling Herod that he could not marry Herodias, the wife of Philip, Herod’s brother. Even if Herod had been punished by God later, John was already dead. However, the good thing is that John’s testimony and legacy were preserved and remain preserved to this day. (Matthew 14:1-12)
  5. Stephen: Stephen was stoned to death, but God used his death to advance the gospel. However, it could have been a lot better if he had not died.

All in all, nothing beats getting vindicated while one is still alive and well. Beloved, we must not slacken in our spiritual potency and fervency. Never allow the devil and his agents to waste your life and destiny and then go ahead to repent, making you a prominent feature of their testimony while they are still in the world. Cry unto God to defend you while you can actively reap the fruits of such defence.

SEARCHLIGHT: Never give the enemy the means to destroy your life and destiny. Be connected to God early for unrivalled spiritual protection and guidance.

PRAYER: O LORD, may I not be wasted for nothing, in Jesus’ mighty name.
